Hi there, I’m Micki- thanks for checkin out my site! After six years of teaching I began my Guidance Counselling career in Brandon, Manitoba in 2022. I am a proud mama of one and step-mama of three, and I’m lucky to be doing it all beside an incredibly supportive man!

While I won’t even pretend to know it all, I have learned that connections, relationships, and a focus on our well-being are the building blocks to a successful teaching career. I hope that this blog serves as a platform for educators to share ideas and resources so that we can be the best leaders for our students.

I believe that taking the time to care for ourselves and understanding the importance of a positive, mindful mindset is our best chance to ensure our happiness both in and out of the classroom.

I hit the jackpot when I found this guy who keeps me on track with these values every single day! I feel super grateful to be able to share my days with Shaun, our beautiful daughter Londyn, and the OG3- Nash, Oliver, and Amelia!

Where would I be without these guys! My awesome parents, Lynn and Gene, taught us from day one that kindness and compassion were the values that mattered the most. My sisters and I are all super close and I would easily call them my best friends. My family keeps me grounded and they are one of my strongest support systems. We golf, we travel, we laugh and we learn together. Couldn’t love this crew more! 

When I’m not teaching, my passion is definitely traveling the world with great friends and family! I’m grateful for the awesome memories that have already been made and I can’t wait to keep crossing new places off the ol’ bucket list!

Micki Banks

Micki has been working in education since 2014 and is currently finishing her Master of Education degree , specializing in Guidance and Counselling. She is currently a Guidance Counsellor at a K-8 school and has a range of teaching experience in Grades 2 through Grade 5. Her passions are relationships both in and outside of the classroom as well as the mental health of teachers and their students.
